  Stealing Paradise

  just got my memorial invite.

  the only thing new about this year, is my knowledge ... due mostly from finding this site.

  i normally take the invite from my mom, tuck it away to hit the trash along with those mags she leaves all time.

  Being a Witness was tiresome to me. You may not know it, but perhaps your mom is tired too and just hanging in there hoping to see her dream of a paradise earth come true. I believe a lot of Witnesses secretly want to be 'normal' from time to time (like around the holidays). It's no fun living in fear. Don't give up on your mom. Remember how we were taught that our conduct could win a person over without even a word? Let you conduct, your happiness and sincerity about life, and most important, the sincere and unconditional love you have for your mother (and all people I hope) be a testimony to her. Hopefully, when she has questions/doubts about org. she'll come directly to you for the answers.

  My heart breaks for you - I can't imagine life without having my mother to talk to about anything.

  Great post Taylor S. And RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!! Just think, if we were born in the Middle East, what religion would we be then? Would we believe what we were taught with our whole hearts? Would we be willing to die and even kill for our beliefs?

  I have taken this as the one true statement taught to me by Jehovah's Witnesses

  RELIGION IS A SNARE AND A RACKET!!!

  You do not need a religion to have a relationship with your creator. The choice is up to us individually. And if there is a God; I agree with you that he will judge us according to what is in our hearts. Not based on some religious affiliation. If he's watching, he knows full well how screwed up things are down here. I don't believe he will hold us accountable for being deceived. I was deceived by the Witnesses but I still believe that God 'will not forget my good works, and the love that I showed for his name.'

  What Caution Would You Recommend To New Posters On These Boards?

  there's a lot of new ones here and they might not be familiar with the fact that not everyone is truthful or necessarily looking out for your best interests.....is there any thing a "newbie" or for that matter any of us should keep in mind while on the internet?

  I read a lot before I started posting here. And nothing I say cannot be known by the world because it's all true (at least from my perspective .

  I'd say, be careful, reading these posts can be addictive! (gotta go ... conference call in 20 mins)

  I wish he could show me where Jesus or any of the apostles said you must go with a group of others, into a building called a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, and refuse to eat wine and bread passed in front of you on Nisan 14.

  I haven't been invited to anything since I was d'fd 7 years ago .... dey don't wub me no more

  One Saturday they must have stopped by my house by mistake. They caught the plumber coming in the back door with some tools and tried to offer the mags. He said 'I don't live here - let me get the lady of the house'. When he yelled through the door "Jehovah Witnesses" I yelled back "WE DON'T WANT ANY"

  Keep doing this in rememberance of me - How often???

  we all know that the memorial is the single most important day in the jw year.

  but why does it have to be observed on one specific day, nisan 14, and at one specific time, at sundown?

  did jesus ever make a statement saying that these two requirements had to be kept no matter what?

  From the very beginning the JW Memorial reminded me of Easter Sunday ... they make such a big ta-do about what they'll wear, then sit throught that boring ass discourse for the umpteenth time ... watch the emblems go around - and if someone partook for the first time it was all abuzz in the KH at the next meeting or out in field service. Then, because the Detroit area usually has more than one cong. in the same hall - rush out so the next group can hear the same dribble and perfunctory emblem passing ( ... OH LORD!) THEN ... it's out to dinner so you can show off your new DUDS!

  Just thinking about that crap makes me feel depressed ...

  Funny though, I haven't 'partaken' of the emblems the few times I've visisted churches. Never made that 'first sunday' which is when a lot churches have communion ... or whatever they call it

  Circuit Assembly Review: "Be guided by the 'wisdom from above.'

  i just got back from the circuit assembly.

  9 people out of 2500 got baptised.

  The so-called 'wisdom from above' is the very reason I left the org. I wonedered why I was so depressed and tired. My marriage was a mess, my children were unhappy and me - a usually positive and optimistic person, was sinking lower and lower by the day. I finally realized that the reason I was so miserable was that I was trying to please the men in Brooklyn - it was always 'do more, make all the meetings, be on-time, dress appropriately, study beforehand, study with your family, read the mags., get at least 10 a month, follow up on your RV's AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I couldn't take that s&%t anymore.

  I reasoned that this wasn't from God. Jesus said is yoke is kindly and light but the GB BS was anything BUT! I prayed to God for forgiveness for leaving my marriage, but I was too young (19) to know what I wanted and I couldn't believe that God would consign me to a life of misery for my error. After 12 years in the org. I decided it was time for me to live the life God wanted for me.

  THEN I RAN THE HELL UP OUT OF THERE!

  I only look back to remind myself how foolish I was for falling for all that CRAP! And to never do it again. I think about visiting once in a while to see what their talking about now . From this post it sounds like the SOS (same old shit).

  Recording Time For Preaching

  Back when I was in you could (1998) through informal witnessing especially. You could count time for 'placing a conversation' as one overseer put it (lol). Oh yes, witness to everyone you come in contact with ... that may be their only opportunity to come into the troof ... strike up a conversation in line at the grocery store, with the person sitting next to you on a bus/plain/train, at the doctors office ... and the 'BLOODGUILT' trips they put on us stressed me out to the MAX. I was so nervous that I would miss somebody and die at Armageddon because I didn't have the courgage to speak up on every occasion.

  No wonder I burned out - it takes entirely too much to please the men in CROOKLYN.
